Covering the Q: It's tout en Français! - KuklasKorner : Hockey

Without a doubt, one of my greatest challenges with this blog, aside from the sure volume of minor-league news I have to filter through, and then pick what to write about, is the fact that covering the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL or simply “the Q”) will be a unique task in and of itself. This comes from the fact that the majority of the news on the Q, is written and reported on in French, due to fact that the majority of their market is French-Canadian.

I don’t understand French, and nor will I expect you, the English speaking readers to do so either. (Français) 8 Heures de Suzuka : le YART tout prêt de l'exploit ...

Changeable weather prompted the organisers to modify the Superpole procedure. The qualified teams were still represented by two of their riders, but the latter were split into two groups comprising the faster and slower representatives respectively. Each group had 20 minutes to try to qualify on pole and the outcome was decided on the final session.

A time of 2m8.025s for Japan’s Nakasuga put YART’s N°7 Yamaha in second place, and the Austrian squad even topped the order until the very last moment when Kagayama (YOSHIMURA SUZUKI Racing Team) recorded a 2m8.001s on his last lap. MuSASHi RT HARC-PRO (2m8.162s) will start from third place, ahead of FCC TSR Honda (2m8.258s). The top four teams were covered by 0.257s. Matthieu Lagrive’s best effort of 2m9.409s put the GMT 94-MICHELIN Yamaha in sixth place ahead of the BMW-MICHELIN (2m9.455s).

“This is a tremendous result,” beamed the manager of Michelin Competition’s two-wheel programmes, Phillippe Mussati, after the Superpole session. “YART improved their best qualifying time yesterday by a second. Our partners are capable of mixing it with the best of them here.”
